Make-Up Review: L'oreal Bare Naturale Mascara

L'Oreal Bare Naturale Luminous Lengthening Mascara

a great everyday mascara.

Call me a mascara fiend. I'm always searching for my "holy grail" of mascaras. I love testing new products that come out and am not ashamed of returning mascaras that just do not work and do NOT live up to their advertising promises (you shouldn't be either!). My most recent try? L’Oreal Bare Naturale Luminous Lengthening Mascara in Black.

L’Oreal Bare Naturale Luminous Lengthening Mascara is hypoallergenic and is available in three colors: Blackest Black, Black, and Black Brown. The product is formulated with natural ingredients like jojoba oil, Vitamin E and aloe. There is currently no waterproof version/formula being sold.

Priced at about $7-$9 dollars depending on the store you buy it from, it’s a little pricier in comparison to the average drugstore mascara. It promises to lengthen your lashes and to separate them to create a nice, natural look. And you know what? It does exactly what it says it would do. One coast did lengthen and separate my stubby lashes without making them too stiff. It is very buildable and I experienced minimal clumping, if any at all.  Great, right?

But of course, it isn’t the perfect mascara. While it did lengthen and separate my lashes well, this mascara does not do much to thicken your lashes (the ads don’t really promise that, but still… I look for it!). It also didn’t hold the curl of my eyelashes very well, which really disappointed me because I love curling my eyelashes. The formula is also thinner than most and it takes a little while to dry do you have to be careful about that too! Like most mascaras, smearing and flaking happens, but it didn’t happen for at least 10 hours with this mascara.

Finally:
This product is available at drugstores and chain stores such as Target and Wal-Mart for about $7-$9 dollars.
Pros: lengthening, minimal clumping, affordable, delivers what it promises
Cons: no waterproof variations, takes a while to dry, pricey for a drugstore mascara

I give this mascara an overall rating of 3.5 our 5.
